A Roaring Good Time: Our Family Day Trip to the Kansas City Zoo
Our family recently visited the Kansas City Zoo for the first time, and it was truly a “roaring good time”! As a parent, I always worry about whether outings will be too overwhelming for the kids or if they’ll lose interest quickly. - Timing is Everything: We arrived right when the zoo opened at 9:30 AM. The crowds were minimal, and the animals seemed more active. By noon, we could see that it was getting busier.
- What to Pack: Bring a light snack and water for the kids. The zoo has a few food options, but you might want to avoid long lines. Don’t forget sunscreen and hats!
- Comfortable Shoes: Plan for a lot of walking. The zoo is quite expansive, and you’ll want to be comfortable.
- Stroller Strategy: Even though Grace is 7 and Connor is 4, they both enjoyed having the stroller available. There were times when they got tired, and it was nice to have a backup.
- Rest Areas: Take advantage of the benches and rest areas. The kids enjoyed some quiet time and a snack while we watched the elephants.
